Can the colour of your wallpaper affect your life?


Do any of us pay much attention to the colour of our wallpaper in our bedrooms? Aside from wanting this to suit the overall decor, this is not usually one of the things we consider as ‘life changing’, or affecting us much.

However, a fascinating study from Travelodge delves into psychological effects of different coloured wall papers in the bedroom, and has found these can have a huge affect on different parts of your life, including finances, relationships, and especially, your ability to sleep!

People with blue wallpaper, thought to create a feeling of calm, typically sleep the best. However, people with darker and drearier wall papers (brown or grey) are more likely to suffer from prolonged insomnia. 

Unfortunately, if purple is your favourite colour, this would be one to avoid, as it is the most likely wallpaper colour to give you nightmares!

Other fascinating findings were:

·      Couples who sleep in a bedroom that is decorated in a luxurious caramel make love on average three times per week. However, couples who sleep in a passionate red décor bedroom make love only once a week!

·      Britons who have a grey themed bedroom spend the most time shopping online in bed.

·      A fifth who have a silver décor in their bedroom said they are more motivated to exercise in their bedroom. 

So whether it be a good night sleep you are after, improved relationship or simply want to spend less, take into consideration your choice of wallpaper, it might just change your life!
