I'm pretty happy with the kitchen in our new home. It is definitely a huge upgrade from anything I've had before. Ideally I'd like to refinish the light maple colored cabinets in white, knockout one one to open it into the living room, and maybe even swap out the tile for hardwood. For now though, it will do, and I'll get my fix by perusing amazing kitchens like the one below.
The brick comes from demolished buildings in Chicago, and the steel hood is custom.
I'm in love with the walnut floors! They gray/green cabinets are elegant, but I think I still might have gone with white.
What do you think of these glass pendants? What do you think about the whole kitchen?

A Crisp White Home That Still Has Historic Charm
This Sag Harbor home caught my eye recently. It's at times a bit rustic for my tastes, but I think the balance of clean and modern, and respecting the homes historic charms - like exposed beams, is perfect.
In love with that rug!
Black floors in white rooms are really starting to grow on me.
The dining room is the only one that sticks out to me a little. I would love to see a few sleeker elements brought in to counteract with the more rustic ones.
The tiny gray tiles on the floor are so pretty

Gathering inspiration for my home office
As some of you know, we just bought a home and I will have my first true home office. Not in the dining room, or the nook of the bedroom, a whole separate room!
Here are some office spaces I really like:
The 4 images below show the office of Apartment 34's Erin Hiemstra
Loving those gold pendants!
This sitting area is great for flipping through magazines, sketching, etc..

The office of Maison Luxe, based in Seattle.
Great use of the nook!

Make your walls beautiful! Inspiring ways to hang art.
CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED. THANKS TO ALL WHO ENTERED!
A mid-weekly reminder to everyone to enter to win an amazing Change of Art frame! I'll announce the winner on Feb. 6th.
Here are a handful of very cool ways to display art in your home, and a Change of Art frame would really help you do it!
One of my favorite salon style walls, I love how the artwork even extends to the floor!
Add even more textural interest to a brick wall by hanging some framed art and mixed-media pieces.
Different color mats can make a gallery wall less formal.

Divine Kitchens
I think kitchens can really tell a lot about a person. Do they cook a lot, are they messy or neat, modern or traditional, are they collectors or purgers..., etc.. Below are some lovelies I've pulled together...
I'm not usually a big fan of modern, but the rug and sheers adds softness.
Love the light fixtures, love the backsplash. Kitchen tiles and flooring tile is really something that makes a huge impact and can't really be faked. I'm sure when I'm lucky enough to design my dream kitchen, and floors, I'm going to try and look into every possible money saving option, like buying wholesale tile, click here for an example.
White is my favorite for cabinets.
Wow! 3 chandeliers, that wallpaper, that green island! It all makes for one pretty and cheerful kitchen.
Sleek and efficient.
I don't think I've seen a kitchen with this much exposed brick.
Definitely the kitchen of a fun-loving, quirky chef.
What does your kitchen say about you?

Kitchen Love
I cook a lot more in the fall and winter, so I'll be spending a lot more time in the kitchen. I imagine that in some homes, the kitchen is the most popular room in the house. Our kitchen is a small galley kitchen, so it's not suitable for hanging out in, but one day I hope to have a kitchen that opens up to the living room.
This kitchen is simple, but white is my favorite cabinet color, and the light is really nice.

If you are very good at keeping your items tidy, open shelves can be really attractive, and the open backs don't hide the eye-catching backsplash.

Talk about amazing kitchen design, all those windows would make you feel like you're cooking outside year round.
