Modern Offices.....
Today I am sharing with all of you how to create the perfect home office and have provided the essential materials needed in order to have the perfect modern contemporary home office..
Enjoy the pics and post...
The Napoli Desk..
Float through your work day when you sit at the Italian-style Napoli Desk. It features two sizes and three veneers – golden cherry, sierra cherry or mahogany. It is ideal for the upscale home office that needs a boost in style, or any corporate or business setting. The desk top appears to be floating over the main structure through the use of silver metal supports, and the beveled surface matches the curved end panels to come together in a polished, modern look. Through minimalist simplicity and Italian inspiration, this desk manages to be both sophisticated and modern without being overbearing. The Napoli Desk can be purchased for $559.99 (63-inches wide) to $599.99 (72-inches wide) from ModernFurniture.com.
Essential Shelves...
This is a shelf that can hold its own, and then some. This thin, modular shelf appears almost fragile, but don’t judge a book(shelf) by appearances – each one of the four included shelves can hold 110 pounds of weight. By using the force of gravity to its advantage, the Treku Bookcase manages to reduce wall stress while offering the most support for your books possible from such a lightweight design. Minimalist to its core, the two aluminum rods and four wenge or oak veneer shelves can be adjusted to compensate for uneven floors as well as different heights for your storage needs. You’ll find the Treku Bookcase at DWR.com for $900.00 (oak) – $1,150.00 (wedge).
Wall attached Desk...
Don’t let your work tie you down. If ever there was a way to rise above all of the papers, clutter, and other office mess that pervades your workspace, this floating Lax Wall Mounted Desk is the perfect beginning. It uses light, natural materials to create an open, flexible look. The walnut wood and white powdered aluminum doors are complimentary to the floating appearance of the desk itself. The added upper cabinet will only increase the image of a floating, carefree workspace. This desk can be used as a display shelf for living room accessories and media as well. The Lax Wall Mounted Desk is available at Spacify.com for $720.00.
The perfect Chair...
Make your office swish with a chair that does much more than just swivel. There are several factors that you should look for in an office chair: how comfortable it is, how it looks, how it fits with the rest of your decor. The Axess office chair will satisfy your entire check-list and then some. This chair automatically adapts to you, meaning that the back and seat are both movable and can form to any position. The height can be adjusted and set at any level. Each part on this chair is crafted from high-quality materials, and is connected in a manner that is easy to dismantle should you so choose. The Axess office chair comes in a variety of colors, both in terms of the plastic components and the fabric on the back and seat. No office chair has ever been more customizable or more stylish. You can find this modern office chair at Nova68.com
A modern look desk..
Work with perfect symmetry when you use this Martix Desk System as your office desk. It is designed for the modern office, with its symmetrical layout, its simple and un-embellished lines, and its spare use of material. The two main surfaces of this desk are made from faux leather, which are sophisticated and elegant while being functional hard surfaces to write and work upon. The base of this unit is made from chrome colored welded metal, which is durable, long-lasting and sturdy. Both the center joining unit and the shelf on the left unit are made from thick tempered glass. The abundance of surface space and stylish design will make this Matrix Desk System the centerpiece of any office. You can find this desk at TheFurniture.com for $295.00.
A complete Office...
Be good to the environment, and good to your office style. This office is not only environmentally-friendly, but it is a modern piece of furniture art. All pieces of this furniture have met or exceeded the Greenguard Standard that regulates air quality control, so you can be assured that the emissions from the production of this line of furniture were low-impact. The use of space is optimized for comfort when sitting or reaching across the desk. Not only is this eco-furniture functional, but its minimalist form is also testament to the fact that going green doesn’t mean losing your style. The latest trends are incorporated into a modern look that will stand the test of time, and remain up-to-date for years to come. If you are looking to spruce up your office-space, you can get this Clara Modern Office from Spacify for $2,562.00.
A modern Chair..
Contemporary comfort. This Petal lounge chair will welcome you after a hard day of work with its modern style and soft velour microfabric cushions. You can lean back and kick up your feet onto the matching ottoman. The bold cushions come in black or red, and will pleasantly contrast with the chrome-plated swivel base. This is the perfect compliment to a modern office, and would look smashing behind a bold silver or glass executive desk. You can order the Petal lounge chair and ottoman from ModernFurniture.com for $759.99.

Beautiful Working Spaces
Hi another rainy day in Sydney today. I had a great day out and about shopping with one of my lovely clients today. I'm so lucky I have such a fabulous job that I can spend a day shopping as part of my work. If I wasn't out shopping today though, I would love to spend a day in any of these gorgeous home offices. How about you? Love spending a day in the office - or more of an 'out and about' person???

One of the best home decor books I've read in a while: "Books Make A Home"
There are lots of pretty decorating books out there, but it's only every now and then that I get one where I want to scan and show you every single page. This book, "Books Make A Home," is one of those few gems.
"Books Make A Home," by Damian Thompson, is filled to the brim with ideas and imagery of how to store and display the books in your space - large or small...
like in alcoves..
...even bathrooms! (I do love reading in the tub!)
This white bedroom, where color is solely brought in be books and the three potted plants, is one of my new favorite spaces.
Don't store books above your bed if you live in an earthquake prone area.
I'm against covering books so they fit into your decor or color palette. Books themselves are beautiful to me, and I like people who come into my home to be able to learn a little more about me, where I've been, and what I'm passionate about, by the spines on my shelf.
A cleverly placed book shelf is a classic great idea for breaking up a studio or large space into separate rooms.
So, are the books in your home there haphazardly? Or have you stored and displayed them in a thoughtful way? If so, do you arrange them based on where you need to access them, there importance to you, the beauty of their spines, etc. ? Can't wait to hear how you integrate books into your home!
The book can be purchased on Amazon.

Steven Gambrel
Steven Gambrel is a highly acclaimed designer based in the US. I have just one picture tonight to share from his varied portfolio. It makes me smile - why? Do you notice the two large blue glass balls tied with rope in the bottom right hand corner of the room. When I was growing up in New Zealand one of our neighbours had those very same balls in thier lounge room. For some reason they always caught my eye. I love how it makes me feel when I come across something today - and go "Oh wow!! I remember seeing those when I was a kid" Rachael Mac if your out there and reading this post tonight - do you remember those in your home??
I must do a post on macrame too at some stage - it's coming back!!! There is a fabulous designer in Melbourne who is doing incredibly beautiful things with knotted rope/macrame - so will get onto that.
In the meantime hope you like this room - I love the scale of it, the way the lounge is really low and then the gorgeous map that draws your eye up to that beautiful pendant. The gorgeous texture on the walls and all those circles/spheres repeated. This is a truely lovely room. What do you think? Do you have those moments in interiors when you come across something now that was in your home or a friends home as a child??

Fettuccine for an (almost) spring day
Today it was a beautiful day. After a couple of weeks where the temperatures went to minus 20.C, today with it's wonderful 5.C felt like spring. We decided to go for a little walk and ended up being outside for more than an hour. It was sunny, it smelled like summer at the beach (the sea is actually around 20km away from here, but who cares), it was just a perfect (almost) spring day. So when we got home I felt the urge to make a lunch to "pair" with this day.
Pasta is perfect for every situation. So I took the recipe of a Carbonara and just made it lighter.
400g of fresh fettuccine
1 small onion finely diced
2 cloves of garlic smashed
2 cloves of garlic smashed
300ml of cream (I mixed heavy cream and crème fresh)
grated ginger, black pepper, salt, mustard (1 or 2 tea spoons)
70g of grated parmesan cheese
1/5 a lemon's juice
1 egg
a handful of chopped fresh basil and lemon balm leaves
Cook the pasta, rinse it with cold water and reserve.
In a sauce pan with bit of olive oil cook the onion until transparent. Add the garlic.
Add the cream and the seasoning and let it simmer for 5 min. Add the lemon juice.
Add the parmesan and rectify the seasoning if needed cook for 2 min.
Add the egg and stir very gently until its completely incorporated.
Take out of the heat (or fire if you are lucky...I'm not) and add the herbs.
Add the sauce to the pasta and finish with some more fresh leaves. I served it with a home made kind of red pepper sweet and sour sauce. I would have liked to add some pine nuts but "someone" said he didn´t like pine nuts.
Not to be missed: A feminine glamorous apartment in a historic art noveau building
This dream apartment belongs to decorator and TV presenter Ana Antunes, and is located in Chiado, Lisbon's fashion district. I feel like this apartment speaks to the girly girl in all of us who wants to feel luxurious and pampered in every room of your house. Tiffany blues, mirrored furnishings, pastels, and opulent decor are found throughout this stunning space.
If you couldn't tell, Ana loves all things Tiffany blue.
I always try to use decor that has special meaning to me, just like Ana has showcased one of her mother's paintings here.
So true and so simple "Always believe your instincts and emotions. If you love something a lot, stick with it because you won't get tired of it easily"
I've made the mistake of really liking something "of the moment." Even though I might sincerely like the look, I don't always wait to see if I like it for an extended period, enough to make the commitment to it in my home.
Love all the artwork throughout her home.
What do you think of Ana''s home?

Happy Monday
Happy Monday!! hope you all had a great day. I just have time to share a quick photo that made me smile today - then it's back down to the office to while away a few hours!!! My most favourite thing to do - I love working at night. It's so peaceful and I seem to get so much more done without the phone and email interrupting me. Hope you like these cute images - I came across them on Ana Antunes Home Styling Blog. It's a stand that one of her friends had at an overseas trade show. That little parrot is so cute!! he was one of my favourites from Sydney's Reed Gift Fair this week as is the butterfly and Chinese calligraphy brush. As for colours - the apples look fabulous next to those divine powder blue boxes! What a gorgeous combination - do you agree?
Have a great night x

Monday Mojo.... Some Music Please!
Sheesh, I've been so remiss lately..... sorry everyone whose blog I usually get to. I seem to be lacking about another 10 hours in the day lately - bleh.
Time for some music... that always helps me get my mojo back.
This song was played at the first 'disco' I ever went to in my youth (all those years ago), and it was my most favourite song EVA. (At the time - ha ha).
I don't have it on cd or anything else at home, so I can't blast it from my stereo, but at least I can enjoy it on Youtube.
Yep, my musical tastes are wide and varied. (But you already knew that!)
I'll be back some time in the coming week with the afore promised cushion cover give-away that I mentioned a few weeks back.
Happy Monday everyone, and may your mojo be with you this week in everything you do.

Starburst Mirrors
Hello, hope you have had a great weekend. I was up early this morning trimming the hedge, pulling out weeds, sweeping paths - phew!! what a crazy way to spend Sunday morning. The kids were at thier dads, so it was a good chance to get some gardening done in peace. I really enjoyed it actually. There's nothing like getting your hands dirty and feeling good about your efforts.
I have a thing for Starburst mirrors at the moment - I keep seeing them popping up in the home magazines and blogs. They are really versatile fitting into retro, classic, eclectic, exotic and contemporary interiors. What do you think, do you like them?
