Celebrating the 4th in Style!

Last summer I had the honor of guest blogging on 4th of July style for my good friends over at Bae Home, purveyors of AWESOME furnishings and decor based in San Francisco.  I was doubly honored when they asked me for some style tips to share with their readers this 4th, and here's what I came up with.

Loving the look of a framed flag. Displaying it in a frame is a chic way to keep it on display all year. Just make sure the stars are always kept in the upper left corner!

Versatile and beautiful…I have had these stools on my wishlist for the past 6 months. You get to choose between various leaf imprints, sage, banana, artichoke, eucalyptus, and more. They’re perfect for entertaining because they can serve as a stool or a side table.

Read the whole post over on the Bae Home blog!

Have a wonderful (and stylish) 4th of July everyone!

The new stunning West Elm Artist collaborations inspired by South Africa

So...I try not to "want" too many things, cause I pretty much have everything I need, but...

probably my favorite piece in the collection.  The curve of the wood is gorgeous.  I would get the blue/brown. Cape Town designer John Vogel created these benches with webbed seats inspired by traditional African riempie weaving.

Other faves...
This console is a wonderful blend of clean, modern lines, and the grace of spindle legs.

How gorgeous is that red bench?  The "Source" bench is an update on a South African furniture icon.

This garden of pottery candleholders and vases were created by Johannesburg potters Anthony Harris and Gerhard Swart.

The horn-shaped back of this Vogel dining chair was inspired by the antlers of African Nguni cattle.

I have really liked what West Elm has done the last few years, and their latest efforts are no exception.  I have a soft spot for all things that focus on craftsmanship, and tribal is huge right now, and all of these pieces marry the two.

What I've shown here is just a small peek.
You can see more at Elle Decor, which broke the news revealing the collection, and you can now shop the collection early.

What do you think of West Elm and their new collection?
