Day 19 : Four Of My Favourite Blogs

So, Day 19 of the Blog Every Day In May challenge is

"some of your favourite blogs & what you love about them"

I read lots of blogs although not as many as I used to....
I must confess to spending more time writing than reading.
The four blogs that I have chosen today stand out as favourites for lots of different reasons....
I hope you will love them too.
Enjoy....

Who : Natasha
Where : Sydney, Australia
Why?
I've been reading Natasha's blog for ages....
she is the best photographer I have seen on any blog. Ever.
She is so talented & her photos are completely gorgeous.

She is also a very good writer, a sweet person, she's Australian and she has - hands-down - the best & most romantic story ever of how she met her husband.
There's a gentle & thoughtful quality about her blog that really appeals to me.

You can view many of her photos here in her portfolio, please go visit her blog though, you'll love it.

Who : Natalie
Where : New York City
Why?
I only discovered her blog recently, but I fell in love with it instantly....
and not just because she is living my dream life of "happy family in NYC"!

Natalie documents her family's life in the city via the most fantastic photos & daily tales of her gorgeous little boy named Huck.
If you love New York City, you will adore her blog.

She has a great attitude to life & is the best kind of blog writer....
funny, interesting, honest, perceptive, open, warm & intelligent.

Who : Jenny Rosenstrach
Where : Westchester, NY
Why:
Another recent discovery, this food blog is amazing.
Very entertaining, funny, stimulating and full of great ideas & photos,
I'm sure you'll like it even if you hate cooking!
This was the very first post of theirs that I read and it just made me smile :)

The blog led to a book which Jenny talks about below....
I love what she has to say.

Who : Sophie
Where : An Australian girl living in London
Why?

I've been reading Sophie's blog for sometime now, I just love it.
Sophie is (much) younger than me, but there is so much that I admire about her....

Sophie & George met in Sydney & she followed him back home to London.
They have moved around a bit & now live in London.
Sophie has a huge & infectious enthusiasm for London, for travel, for food & for life in general.
She writes a daily blog, documenting her travels, places she visits, food she's eaten.
Her blog features fabulous photos.....if she doesn't make you want to travel, nothing will!

She has a very good head on her young shoulders, she loves her family, she's fun,
full of happiness & positivity....she's a breath of fresh air.
I really just love that she is the perfect example of the fact that life is for living....
and she is absolutely going to do it all.

Happy Week-end!

This week was the second week of the school holidays & I spent it trying to live in the moment and enjoy it....
as opposed to wishing away the days & counting the hours & minutes until next Monday morning ;)
Museums, London, cooking, cycling in the woods & football with friends.
you name it, we did it :)

We also met my beautiful soon-to-be-18-year-old cousin for afternoon tea at Browns Hotel....which is another post in itself for many reasons.
Tea at Browns is still the best in London in my opinion.

I finally got to see "Silver Linings Playbook" last night...
I watched it on DVD though which, for me, is never as good at seeing it at the cinema...
I thought Bradley Cooper & Robert De Niro were fantastic.

Summer term begins on Monday as does my normal daily routine....
and part of me is happy about this & part is wondering where the school year went....

Happy Week-end....

"30 Dishes in 30 Days" Cooking Update

Just a little update on my cooking challenge for November....
"30 Dishes in 30 Days"

It's been a huge amount of fun as well as being absolutely delicious.

My main rule is to only cook dishes that I have never attempted before.

I would say that one of the keys to my success this first week has been planning....I did a huge shop last week, having planned my first 10 or so dishes, and apart from a couple of things not turning up in my online food shop, planning ahead has helped me enormously.

Exploring some of my previously unopened cookery books & using new ingredients has been fantastic!!

Best of all, I am simply really enjoying cooking :)

I have used my fabulous Vitamix blender for several dishes - soup & ice cream - but otherwise I have cooked everything from scratch myself.

So, it's Day 8 today and so far I've cooked 12 dishes - so far so good!

Everything has been very well received by my family & there is possibly only one dish that I wouldn't try again....no disasters yet!

Favourites so far include Cinnamon buns from "Say It With Cake" by Edd Kimber....
and Balsamic Onion & Roasted Goats Cheese Tart which is a recipe from my lovely friend S.

Today's dish is pasta so I'm making Jamie Oliver's "Broccoli & Pesto Tagliatelle"

Nutella-stuffed cookies as mentioned here in "Best Chocolate Chip Cookies Ever"
