Avant-Garde Store Shines

I would like to introduce the all new Avant-Garde products store and websites. We have completely re-done our websites with new colors and made them much more user friendly. Gone are the long side menus and not so user friendly interfaces replaced with short brief menus and a much more user friendly interface. The new site is also broken down into many sub menus making it much easier for you to get in and find what your looking for and get out as soon as possible without the need to look around things you are not interested in.. 

We have also added many products to our website with brands like WMU, Nova, Fossil, La Coste, and many more joining our product lines. We have revamped many old products and added many more options such as color and size to existing product lines..

Cuba, an Island misinterpreted from the outside

Day 3 Cuba....My grandmother´s 105th birthday is today


It was an uneventful night in Santa Clara Cuba. I finally found a way of getting photos sent to all of you and will have them up by this afternoon. (Hopefull). Anyway last night was raining as does everyday here around 3 PM as we are in the tropics and the afternoon thunderstorms tend to roll in everyday at the same time. I think its great since it coold the island down by about 10 to 12 degrees and the breeze before the rain and after is something I would rather have then live without.


We went shoping yesterday and the unthinkable happened. The stores were full of products from the USA, Raisen Bran, Lucky Charms, Cheereos, to name a few cereals and just about everything food wise was made in the UDA. Incredible.. Of course most items were way to expensive for the average cuban family. But no matter most again seemed to get by and honestly I love the island and the people are very friendly and even the government really ahs not done anything wrong to us or anyone around us so a lot of the stories you hear on Cuba are just that stories..


Its safe, secure, the government does go out of its way to show tourists a good time, and you feel very secure where ever you go. So no matter what you have herd, don´t always believe because it might not be true, and more then likely it is not..


We ate early around 600PM and I was in bed by 1100 in a nice clean air conditioned hotel room in the middle of the colonial beautiful city of Santa Clara.. Where everyone seems to be super friendly toward tourists and there are quite a few of them here.. from Europe, Canada, United States, and a slew of other countries. The room includes breakfast which is fantastic buffet style or a la carte with just about everything you can possibly imagine for breakfast...


Well today we are busy getting ready for the big party tonight.. it promises to be a great time and evening.. more on that later and hopefully with some pictures..

Another day in Cuba and more info on this beautiful Island

From Cuba and Missing all of you...

Cuba is a very nice but Technologically challanged country ...

I am writting all of you today from the Island Nation of Cuba, A beautiful paradise where I am on vacation with my enytire family celebrating my grandmother´s 105th Birthday PARTY. We have planned a huge celebration and she is as fit as is to be expected from someone her age. We have rented out an entire floor of a hotel in Santa Clara, one of Cuba´s oldest and most advanced cities and have invited over 100 people to join us.

Cuba is a beautiful paradise of jungles, sugar fields, and beautiful scenic mountains. The cities are decaying however not anywhere near as bad as is portrayed by the mainstream media outside the island. For the most part people get by and rarely do they or one hear mention of the government. Mostly people just go about their daily lives. I would send pictures but I can not upload my camera as no one on the island is permitted internet access, only gvernment run centers where you must be a foreiger with a valid passport are you allowed to even browse or communicate through the internet, which is where I am writting this blog from today.

its amazing how in a world full of technology wonders such as the iPhone, iPad, computers, video games, plasma TV´s and all other electronics, this island has none of them and your considered rich if you have a cell phone. iPhones here do not work either the iPads unless you are from Europe or Canada or any other country besides the United States whose connections work through the Cuban Cell network which is run by the government and then at an astronomical cost. WiFi is a thing only seen in rich tourist areas or huge spanish, italian, and british hotels in the capital, which I must say is stunningly beautiful as the government has spent millions renovating the old section of Havanna. I have never seen in my countless travels such beautifilly preserved and restored old section of a capital as the one found in Havanna. It literally seems like you just stepped off a time machine and are instantly hit by bright colors of the Carribean in the paints used to refurbish all downtown buildings. It truly seems your someplace else and at another time in History.

And now to its beaches, not a single place I have ever been, Carribean, Pacific, South America, Africa, Mediterranean, Framce, Greece, Ibiza, Mykonos, compares to the truly clear and crystal waters of the beaches of Cuba. Unspoiled, untouched, and about as nice as you can possibly imagine Varadero is indeed the most beautiful best kept beach in the entire world. Pristine and vigin at tourism its perhaps the world´s best kept secret.

Hopefully I will be able to attach pictures shortly to share with all of you this remarkable Island nation whose peoples are the friendliest anywhere on this planet and they openly share with you everything, even if its little or nothing, that they have and open their hearts and homes to you and welcome you to come back anytime.

Truly a remarkable experience and a truly stunningly scenic beautiful Island Nation, Cuba is an experience more of you should experience..

This the cool inspiring for modern house space design between indoor and outdoor at Silvertree Residence in Arizona by Secrest Architecture.this house concept opportunity for indoor-outdoor living, was ignored in the previous floor plan of this vaguely Mediterranean 1970s home. A nicely scaled rear terrace with great desert, mountain and partial city views was nearly inaccessible in the floor plan of the existing house. A new multi-functional space, and a remodeled kitchen and dining room, all revolve around a new three-sided fireplace. The fireplace is at the nucleus of the space and acts as a focal point while separating the spaces. The fireplace positioned to open to all of the living spaces. these new spaces allow the rest of the existing house to be connected with the exterior. The garage was relocated, creating better access in and out of the garage and allowing the rest of the rear of the house to open to the exterior. The new living spaces open the house to the outdoors while maintaining privacy in its suburban setting. Fenestration was positioned to provide controlled views and light while screening neighboring houses. A clerestory window opens to the east allowing views of the tops of the Catalina Mountains.A large steel beam spans across the space supporting the roof making the roof appear to float over the mullion-less glass below. Large retractable screens concealed in the ceiling provide privacy and solar control when needed. The existing patio porch framing was saved and covered with birch panel plywood to unite the interior and exterior. The framing is supported by steel wide-flange beams and concrete columns echoing the interior language. The new space allows the exterior patio to become an extension of the interior spaces encouraging indoor-outdoor living. Integral color concrete floors below, and birch soffits above, extend to the exterior breaking the conventional opaque boundary, blurring the line between interior and exterior. A large custom sliding door can be opened to strengthen the connectivity with the exterior spaces.

David Jameson Architect speaking about this house: inhabiting the masonry shell of an existing house, this project engages the phenomenon of ruins and explores the ideas a aperture. the design program called for renovating the main level and adding a second level with a significantly smaller footprint. alluding to the Acropolis, four modern glass temples emerge from a white stucco plinth as volumes of light and define space between each other. there volumes of light are stitched together by a circulation core sheathed in black that extends to cradle each space. the volumes are instruments of light, gathering natural light to the interior during the day and glowing in the landscape at night.

The open windows are stunning and let all the warmth of the sun in dirring the day and at night the stars are clearly visible through the beautiful floor to ceiling windows.. I just hope they have a cleaning person because I wouldn't want to clean those windows.. MY GOD they must be a lot of work to keep clean... LOL
