Since the holidays ended & school went back, I seem to have been fighting a daily & weekly battle to create more hours in my day.
And I'm not winning!
I am determined to finish this week feeling that at least most - if not all - of my boxes have been ticked.
While I might not be behind,
I certainly feel as though I am just about keeping my head above water....
I'm managing.
All the balls are in the air but....well, I'm sure you get the picture.
I've had a couple of days where I've been so busy deciding what to do next that I've ended up not doing anything at all.
I'm feeling slightly encumbered & need to get rid of that feeling....if for no other reason that to move on with the fun stuff & the things I really want to be spending my days doing.
I'm feeling slightly encumbered & need to get rid of that feeling....if for no other reason that to move on with the fun stuff & the things I really want to be spending my days doing.
Clearly I cannot create more hours in the day so I've really got to come up with a plan that allows me to free up some time whilst still accomplishing all those things I still have to get done -
the every day stuff plus all the projects.
I want to do better, work better, eat better....function better.
I tend to make mental lists rather than actual written down ones....
so, today I've put together a huge master to-do list & pinned it to my kitchen wall.
It includes every.single.thing I want & need to do right now, tasks big & small.
Seeing it in black & white has given me some clarity - and, actually, once written down, it doesn't seem quite as much as it seemed when it was just in my brain!!
Between children, school, home & various projects plus blogging....
I feel like I'm the busiest I've been for a long time.
I also feel as though I am ready to move forward on some projects close to my heart - but I need to have all my ducks in a row, so to speak in order to move on confidently & comfortably.
What I've also done today is prioritise my list & also think about what I really want to be doing with my day & how best to organise it.
Below are some encouraging & inspiring thoughts that I've read this week....
1. To achieve bigger goals, take smaller steps
2. What leaves you feeling bad, do less of.
What leaves you feeling good, do more of.
3. Passionate pursuits are essential.
4. You can't get to second base with your foot still on first.
I started reading Gretchen Rubin's "The Happiness Project" earlier this year and - after proclaiming it to be both brilliant & very relevant to my own life - I stopped reading it for reasons I cannot fathom, I think, strangely, I was overwhelmed by how good it was.
As well as being very well written & funny, it's full of common sense & wisdom - I am going to start reading it again tonight.
I will keep you posted on how the next week unfolds for me....
Operation Find-Those-Extra-Hours-In-The-Day begins now!
